Our Blue World:
Dart River Walk
Monday 6th July, 2026
Totnes
To celebrate the showing of Our Blue World at Totnes Cinema on Monday, 6th July, we’re hosting a lovely walk along the River Dart with founder of Drinkable Rivers, author and alumna of Schumacher College, Li An Phoa.
Li An will be joined by her partner Maarten van der Schaff along with our dear Julia Ponsonby and friends who will offer a pre-film walk through Northwoods, along the Dart to Totnes. In community with each other, we will gather to share our mutual understanding and stories of the more-than-human, and reflect on our relationship with the Dart. This is a participatory event and so sharings of all kinds are welcome. Feel free to bring any poems, rituals and ponderings with you to share with others along the way!
We will gather at Luna’s Bakehouse at the Cider Press Centre, Dartington and end at Vire Island in Totnes for a potluck picnic before the screening and Q&A of Our Blue World at Totnes Cinema later that evening.
We’ll spend around 2–3 hours walking together at a relaxed pace, so a moderate level of fitness and comfort with walking will help you enjoy the day fully. We’ll be gathering whatever the weather, so please bring comfortable footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, water and anything else that will help you feel cosy and cared for along the way.
We’d love for you to bring something to share for our potluck picnic at Vire Island where we will gather, rest, and enjoy good food together by the Dart. If the weather turns especially wet, we’ll make our way to the Waterside Bistro for shelter, where takeaway pizzas will be available to order.
As this is a community gathering, we invite everyone to move through the day with care for themselves and one another, offering kindness, and presence wherever needed.
