Ruth Rae

Ruth was a chef at Schumacher from 2010 to 2020, where her cooking was rooted in seasonal, nourishing and ethically sourced food. Hospitality sat at the heart of this work, supporting the rhythms of college life and creating a sense of welcome and care for students, staff and visiting teachers. After leaving Schumacher, she went on to run their own ethical vegetarian catering business, continuing a commitment to food as a way of bringing people together.

She later worked as House Manager at a retreat centre in Devon, hosting international groups and overseeing all arrangements for residential programmes, from arrivals and logistics to the day-to-day holding of the space. She is now assisting Schumacher with administration and course support, continuing a long standing relationship with the college and contributing the smooth running and values led hospitality.
